Steal Like An Artist - Book Recommendation by Omar #book
I just finished reading this great book by Austin Kleon and I can recommend it to anyone. Anyone will benefit from this book.
Steal Like An Artist is full of advice and quotes that will help you look at your creativity and life in general in a different light. It helps you understand that stealing ideas (in the right way) is a normal and obvious way to come on with amazing ones of your own.
The book is a short read it can be tackled in 1-2 hours and is full of great content. I had just ordered two other books from the author Show Your Work! and Keep Going and will be reviewing those after I read them.
Some notes and quotes from the book. Just a few:
Art is theft - Pablo Picasso
Nothing Is Original.
Garbage In, Garbage Out.
Collect ideas, the more the better.
Fake it till you make it.
Start copying what you love. Copy copy copy copy. At the end of the copy, you will find yourself. - Yohji Yamamoto
Write the book you want to read.
Use analog tools to create your ideas. Computer and digital tools to edit your ideas.
Get bored and take time to wander.
Share your dots but don’t connect them.
You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. - Steve Jobs
Make friends and ignore enemies.
Quit picking fights and go make something.
It’s better to burn out than to fade away.
Stay out of debt. It frees you to be creative.
If you don’t take the money they can’t own you.
It’s not the money you make is the money you hold on to.
I enjoyed this book and I am sure anyone that reads it will love it too.
