Why should Apple purchase a food-tracking app? The two best apps in my opinion are MyFitnessPal and Cronometer. MyFitnessPal has been the market leader with the largest user base and Cronometer has been the sleekest and most accurate one. Both apps have free versions, but MFP is very limited and full of intrusive ads, while Cronometer's more in-depth data is also reserved for the premium paid plan. And neither is particularly cheap, MFP charges $20 a month or $80 a year while Cronometer charges $9 a month or $50 a year. The limitation of the free tier and the steep premium prices are a roadblock to wider adoption and better health insight for Apple customers. Apple could either offer the service for free as an added value for its customer or as a sleeker, more affordable service with a higher privacy standard. We have seen this happen before, one example has been Apple’s acquisition of Forcast.io, the makers of DarkSky and Forcast.io weather data API.

The Best Replacement Refill For The Studio Neat Mark One Pen

To US Politicians, Stay Off My Charging Port

Recently, European Union Eurocrats approved a new law mandating that all smartphones and small electronic devices need to have a standard charging port. And copycat US politicians want to follow in their steps. Like we don’t have bigger issues to tackle in this country.

The consensus is that such a port will be USB-C and starting in 2024 it will need to be in every new smartphone sold.

This includes Apple which has been using its proprietary charging port called Lightning for almost a decade.

Now, I do prefer USB-C over Lightning and will appreciate if Apple made the switch. They had already done it with the iPads and is markedly better than Lightning.

So, what's the issue?

The issue is that tech-illiterate bureaucrats should be forcing designs and tech on innovative tech companies. When Apple introduced Lightning back in 2022 the USB flavor of choice was Micro-USB and that USB for factor was terrible. Fragile and cumbersome. Back then, if Apple was forced to use that port, the iPhone experience would have been less enjoyable this past decade. But because Apple was free to innovate and use its own in-house technology, we had a better charging experience.

The point is that while USB-C is good now if stupid politicians force it on manufacturers It will kill their drive to innovate and come up with better solutions. And even if better solutions are developed, the bureaucrat's red tapes will make it much harder to implement.

What we will get is stagnation, and we may stay with USB-C for way longer than need to be if we leave the decision to the politician.

It’s trendy now to pick on tech companies since politicians gravitate to what's trending just so they can f%$& up. But they seriously should go concentrate on Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Banks. Leave the tech to the people with the actual education.

I am so tired of these stupid politicians. We should have an IQ test done on anyone wanting to run for office.
