Slow iPhone? Get A New Battery Replacement for just $29 and See It Come To Life Again

The controversy

Apple has been accused of slowing people old iPhones in order to sell them new ones. And that accusation is ridiculous. The reality is that Apple does slow old iPhones at times (peak performance) in order to EXTEND its life not to reduce it.

See Apple official statement: A Message to Our Customers about iPhone Batteries and Performance

All batteries degrade over time and can cause the device to shut off randomly, not be able to hold a charge or not power at all. In order to reduce this problem, Apple implemented a software feature that reduces the stresses on the battery at times.

People looking to sensationalize anything Apple related had been spreading the false narrative that Apple does this to sell more phones when the fact is that iPhones remain usable over 2 times longer than comparable high-end smartphones running Android. And this is thanks to Apple looking to maximize the battery life.

The One Apple Failing

If Apple is guilty of something is in not making this clear at first. A lot of people didn’t know they could just replace the battery on their old iPhones and bring them up to speed. This is been addressed on an incoming software update that will give the user more information on the state of their batteries.

A great solution: Battery replacement for just $29

If you notice your iPhone been slower, shutting off randomly even when the battery says it has charge left that means your battery is bad and putting a fresh one in will drastically increase your iPhone performance and extend its life.

How to get a new battery?

Apple usually charges $79 for a battery replacement but only if the phone battery health is below 80 %. That's changing at least until December 2018. Starting now if you have an iPhone 6 or later you can have your battery replaced for just $29 and the only condition is that the phone has no damage. The 80% health requirement has also been removed so over 500 million iPhones are eligible to have a new battery installed for just $29.

Elegible devices:

  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 6S
  • iPhone 6S Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone X

You have until December 2018 to get a fresh battery at $29. If you have an iPhone 8 or X I will wait until December to get a new one as your device one is already new but for anyone with a 7 or below I get one immediately.

So in short

Apple was making something good that was poorly communicated and uneducated or malicious people used to slander Apple but Apple responded by clarifying the “issue” and even giving it’s customers a $50 discount on batteries.

And this is what separates Apple from the competition. That been said I will like to see Apple and other major players investing heavy on battery R&D since the current state of battery tech is not optimal.

Spotify & Other Whining To The European Union About Apple #music

Spotify is ones again bitching at the European Union against Apple. Spotify, Deezer and others music and app developers are whining that they have pay Apple between 15% and 30% for sales or subscriptions generated through the Apple App Store.

Their excuse is that while they have to pay Apple for Apple providing them with access to hundreds of millions of its customers Apple does not have to incur this 15%-30% commission on it. This they all claim is unfair to them and they want the EU to force Apple to level the playing field.

And this is plain old bull S#@$

So according to the Spotify clan is unfair for Apple to have the same benefits as them and not pay itself the commission or not eliminate the commission for its competitors, not a level playing field they claim.

Well, why didn’t Spotify spent billions developing its own App Store, Phone, and cloud infrastructure why didn’t Spotify invest even more promoting and acquiring customers? See they want all the benefits of what Apple built but none of the cost.

You know who isn’t bitching like Spotify and actually competing fair and square? Amazon with its Amazon Unlimited service. Why? Because like Apple Amazon built a business from the ground up and know what actually competing is.

So ditch those crybabies at Spotify and Deezer and join Apple Music or Amazon Music Unlimed.

Apple Trashing Continues At @_connectedfm, @_upgradefm & @atpfm

Rant

I will be taking a long break from two of my favorite podcast Connected, Upgrade & ATP and in both cases is for the same reason.

They have become Apple bashing Apple winning podcast episode after episode. At this point, ATP should stand for Apple Trashing Podcast instead of Accidental Tech Podcast.

I am all in favor for criticizing Apple I have done it on multiple occasion especially when no Airport Extreme was released last fall.

But @marcoarment, @jsnell and @imyke had become to negative. They seem to want Apple to release what they want when they want it and if Apple takes longer to do it they will echo the mainstream “tech” media predicting gloom and doom for Apple and even calling for an executive to be fired.

For them, it seems every decision Apple makes and every product Apple releases is a bad move on Apple parts.

For example, on Connected’s last episode Myke was upset because Apple released a new low-end iPad but no new iPad Pro’s were announced. He was upset that the 12” iPad Pro is 18 months old and he likes to upgrade his iPad every year and he can’t so he gets upset.

So holding on to perfectly working hardware for a couple more months makes Myke upset instead of been grateful that the 18 months old iPad Pro he is so eager to replace is still a solid device after 18 months. Something that can’t be said for most Androids Tablets, Surfaces, and even Windows PC.

I for once prefer Apple take its time and only release a product when they are ready not when some vocal podcasters think is time, after all, they are following Apple from the OUTSIDE and have no clue what's going inside and why the decision that is been made are made.

I hope to go be able to enjoy this podcast in the future but for now, they had become too toxic.
